Spray Painting

September 13, 2011

Spray painting is a painting technique where a device sprays a coating (paint, ink, varnish, etc.) through the compressed air on a surface. Almost all spray painting devices are powered by compressed air. Delair dryers are very useful for spray painting.  Spray guns evolved from airbrushes, and the two are usually distinguished by their size and the size of the spray pattern they produce. Airbrushes are hand-held and used instead of a brush for detailed work such as photo retouching, painting nails or fine art. Air gun spraying uses equipment that is generally larger. It is typically used for covering large surfaces with an even coating of liquid. Spray guns can be either automated or hand-held and have interchangeable heads to allow for different spray patterns.

Spray painting can be done by two ways :

1. Manually -  through electrostatic guns

In electrostatic spray painting the atomized particles are made to be electrically charged, thereby repelling each other and spreading themselves evenly as they exit the spray nozzle. The object being painted is charged oppositely or grounded. The paint is then attracted to the object giving a more even coat than wet spray painting, and also increasing the percentage of paint that sticks to the object. This method also means that paint covers hard to reach areas. The spray painters use spray painting equipment like electrostatic guns for spray paintings. These spray painting guns can be use for car painting, interior painting, powder coating etc.

2. Automatic - through painting robots

A spray paint system including a paint booth and paint robots apparatus movable within the paint booth and movably supported outside the paint booth is disclosed. The saddle structures support paint robots on their respective elongated rail mechanisms.  Each robot is mounted on its saddle structure by a hollow robot carriage. The robot carriage and saddle structures house the various cables, hoses and paint lines of their respective robot. These spary painting machines / robots performs the function of spray painting by spraying the defined substances to the specified objects. This robots can generaly be found out in car manufacturing unit. Car spray pain is used by robots for car spray painting.

For having more knowledge about spray painting, one should be familiar with following terms : paint spray, paint sprayer, spray dryers, spray dry, painting spray gun, spray paint guns.
